Common questions

Starting a book

How do I start a book?

On My stories, choose Create, then Book. Starting fresh opens the planner, where you begin from a premise, a story starter or step by step. Bringing a draft imports a manuscript you have already written.

Can I bring in a manuscript I already have?

Yes. Choose Bringing a draft, then paste your chapters or upload .txt, .md, .docx or .epub files. Novarrium reads it and builds a Story Bible of its characters, places and open threads, so every new chapter is held to what you wrote.

What does the Story Bible do?

It records every character detail, relationship, setting and plot point in your book. Logic-Locking then holds each new chapter to those facts, so a protagonist with green eyes in chapter 1 is checked against green eyes in chapter 30.

Drafting and redrafting

How do I redraft or continue one passage?

Select the text in the editor to open the passage menu: redraft, expand, compress or smooth it, or choose Continue here to draft what comes next. Every draft is checked against your world rules and locked Story Bible facts, and nothing in your chapter changes until you accept it.

How do I redraft a whole chapter?

Open the chapter in the editor and choose Redraft. Keep the same outline or say what should change. Every paid plan includes redrafts: Creator 1 per chapter (up to 5 a month), Author 2 (up to 15), Studio 3 (up to 50). After that a redraft uses 1 chapter.

Plans and billing

How do I sign up?

Choose Sign up on any page and use your email or a Google account. 3 free chapters. No credit card required.

What do the plans include?

Creator ($19.99 a month) includes 15 chapters a month, Author ($59.99) 50 and Studio ($179.99) 150. A chapter is about 3,000 words of drafted prose, and every paid plan includes the Story Bible with Logic-Locking. The full list is on the pricing page.

How do I change my plan?

Go to Settings, then Billing. An upgrade starts straight away; a downgrade starts at the end of the billing period. One-time chapter packs never expire.

Exporting

What can I export?

Every plan, the Free plan included, exports your finished book as DOCX, EPUB, PDF or plain text, so you can publish and sell it. Open your story, choose Export and pick a format. Outlines, the Story Bible, characters and maps stay in Novarrium.

When something goes wrong

Why is my chapter taking a while?

A chapter usually takes three to four minutes, longer when drafting is busy or the outline is long. Author and Studio plans use the faster queue. The chapter shows its progress in the editor while it drafts.

What if a chapter fails or gets stuck?

Check the chapter in the editor first: it may still be drafting. If it says it failed, choose Redraft. If it keeps failing, use Send feedback in the help menu (the ? button). The page, the story and the chapter are attached for you.

How do I reach the team?

Use Send feedback, in the app's help menu or on this page. Signed in, replies come to your Messages inbox. Not signed in, email NovelForge1@gmail.com from the address on your account.

Still stuck?
