World Map Guide

The world map combines structured entity creation with freeform painting. Location and Path create real entries in your world; Territory and the paint tools (Brush, Land, Pattern, Stamp, Label, Eraser) draw on the map only. The table says exactly what each tool gives the book today.

Watch: places your story finds

New places from your chapters (22 s)
Transcript

When a chapter names a new place, it waits for you as a suggestion.

Faint pins show where each one would go.

Add it to your map, or dismiss it. It stays in your Story Bible either way.

Nothing lands on your map unless you say so.

Watch: who is where, chapter by chapter

Characters on your map, chapter by chapter (21 s)
Transcript

Slide the chapter, and the map shows your story at that chapter.

Each character appears where that chapter leaves them.

A dashed ring was found in the text. A solid ring is one you placed.

Fainter means last seen in an earlier chapter.

Tools

ToolKeyWhat it doesWhat it writes to the book
SelectVSelect, move or inspect anything on the map

Looks only

Nothing by itself: moving a pin changes the map, not the book

Not in your story yet

Nothing yet: borders are map-only; the writer does not see them
BrushBPaint terrain, coastlines and texture; the River brush smooths your line and widens it toward the mouth

Layers, undo and saving

Paint saves automatically 1.5 seconds after you stop drawing. Undo works even after you reload the page. If another tab saved first, you will be asked whether to keep your changes or theirs. Note that there is a 2 MB cap on the total size of your paint layers.
